I'm still ridiculously sick. I woke up last night with a horrible sore throat and thought, "#*@&, I've got strep." So I took 1000 mg of Tylenol and went back to sleep. I had a nightmare that I saw a little boy on a school bus who was being bullied, and he had to be intubated, but I didn't know how to intubate him (I had watched ER before going to bed). I felt like #*$& when I woke up. I crawled downstairs, crawled onto the sofa, pleaded with the Prophet to go get milk and eggs, which he eventually did, and I made pancakes for the kids. Then I passed out on the sofa. Later I crawled back upstairs thinking I could relax watching some more TV. I don't usually watch TV, except when I'm sick. I watched an episode of Judge Judy where a woman was suing her ex-husbad for forging her signature on the child credit check President Bush mailed parents a while back. Then came the news, and I nearly fell off the bed when they said there's going to be a blizzard tomorrow. So I uttered more #&@^# realizing I'd have to go to the grocery store NOW, because I never went last week because I was so sick, so I crawled downstairs and into the car. Oh my God, the grocery store was packed! I couldn't believe what people were buying. I saw one young couple with no kids in sight buying so much food that it was toppling off the belt as it moved-- I recall clearly three loaves of wonderbread, a huge container of iced tea mix, a dozen bottles of soda, countless bags of potato chips. Maybe they were having a snow party. Everytime I coughed I covered up my outh with my scarf like a leper. Everyone there looked mean and tired and nasty. Here's the weather forecast: A major winter storm will spread heavy snow across southern New England today into tonight. There will be significant accumulations in southern New York and southern New England. A wind will arise late, creating near-blizzard weather. Highs from below zero in Maine to near 20 in southern areas. Heavy snow will continue across most of the region tonight, with the heaviest snow moving into southeastern New England. Blizzard conditions will also develop in this area. Meanwhile, snow will taper in western New York and Pennsylvania, with a bitter wind. Lows will range from -14 in northern Maine to 25 along coastal Massachusetts. |
