Time change again, one hour back, one hour lived twice. It has been raining since last night. The house dark, darker at an earlier hour from the time change. I have set up lights all over the house so Mr. Crazy doesn't hurt his eyes from reading in dim light. I remember this was a concern of my grandmother towards me, that my eyes would be damaged either from crying or from reading in poor light. I've switched to 100 watt bulbs where possible. Timeo, times, timet, timemus, timetis, timent... I bought a collection of old Highlights magazines for Mr. Crazy and Glamor Girl (Wild Girl too when she starts to read). They are spellbound! Today I read an article with Mr. Crazy about homing pigeons... it seems they can navigate directions via the sun, and that even if the sky is overcast they can find the right direction through what seems to be an internal compass. If you place magnets on the pigeon's back, it loses its direction on overcast days, lacking its back-up navigation. 500 miles in a single day-- that is how far a good homing pigeon can travel. Which led me to wonder if some dinosaurs functioned similarly, since there is so much talk these days about the link between dinosaurs and birds. |
