Once upon a time there was a king who desired a particular princess. He developed many strategems to obtain her. Finally, he was successful, and she was married to him and they lived together in the king's palace.

One night, the king had a dream that the princess killed him. He was greatly troubled by this dream. He consulted his astrologers and advisers to interpret this dream for him. They informed him that the meaning was plain: the princess would kill him.

The king grew so fearful and angry that his love for the princess began to diminish day by day, until he utterly despised her. Recognizing these sentiments, the princess fled from the king. She fled to a nearby palace called the Water Palace.

The Water Palace was a palace built entirely from water. The walls were water, the gardens were water, the furnishings were water. Often, when a person entered this palace, they would drown. But the princess did not drown. She was able to walk around the palace, and to look at the gardens.

The king, still fearful that the princess might kill him, heard that she had gone to the Water Palace. So he went to this place with his soldiers. Upon sight of the king and his troops, the princess fled deeper into the palace, deciding she would rather drown than go back to the king.

The king's soldiers shot her with ten arrows. Still, she managed to reach the innermost part of the Water Palace, where she collapsed on the floor.

The king and his troops, however, had gone too far into the Water Palace. The floor opened up and swallowed them all: the king, his troops, and their horses. Thus, the prohecy was fulfilled.
