Well, for three days I've watched no TV. I finally put it on tonight, just to remind myself what is was like, or to see if anything had changed in my long absence, and it was so awful, stupid, sensationalistic... that thing should be outlawed, everywhere! I can't believe I let the kids watch so much.

I am eating boxes of cereal to increase my milk supply. I'm going through just under half a box a day. The amazing thing is that it's not adding any weight to me. Breastfeeding is great. That a woman's body can produce milk that is so beautifully tailored to a baby, in ways that formula labs still can't figure out... and that it helps a woman too, not just with weight but with hormonal balance, her psychological union with the little baby. It lends credence to the concept that God must exist because creation is so astonishing. I used to hear this argument for God and think it was nonsense. "Well, sure the earth is amazing, but if it weren't, we wouldn't know the difference." That was before I saw the light, as it were.

But breastmilk really is amazing. Free, no need to warm it up or sanitize a bottle, and babies LOVE the closeness to their mother. Wild Girl gets this ridiculous grin on her face if she's even NEAR my boob.

I read, somewhere, that in Ancient Egypt the rising sun was a symbol used for the female breast, because the breast was likened to the celestial source of life.
